Puppy Pre-School:

It might just be me, but I think everyone needs a dog! Their unwavering loyalty, affection, and antics make me smile all day, every day. Some people want to start with an adult dog to avoid the mess of puppyhood and the mistakes that can last a lifetime. A lot of people choose to start with a blank slate, though, and get a puppy. I lot of people do this having never known, or forgotten, that raising a puppy is a full time job! I used to hate hearing about friends and clients having to re-home their new best bud because they didn't have the time, energy, or skill to get their puppies through the stage being a well behaved adolescent. I wanted a way for those clients to get these babies through to the 6 months stage,  when they could come to me for training and management of the behaviors that had developed.

I wanted to help those busy professionals, work-from-homers, and frazzled moms and dads, get through the puppy stages with success, so that everyone who wants one, can have their very own best friend.  The issues I came across were:

1. Being able to let the puppy out during the day for potty-training

2. Dealing with a barking puppy, demanding their time and energy, while they were in meetings

3. Children in the home that were taking the brunt of a puppy's mouth while they work through teething stages

4. Long hours that kept owners away from home for extended periods of time, or being on call

5. Traveling for work on weekends or during the week

6. Future service and therapy-dogs that require hyper socialization and early task oriented training

My puppy pre-school program has been successful in providing all of these owners with my skill in raising healthy, well-adjusted puppies that are ready to take on the world with their owners. No matter their work and home-life schedules!

Here's how the process works!

For the first few weeks/months, your puppy stays with me during the week, and comes home on the weekends, for you to experience his growth and development. This gives me the information I need to help develop him into the very best friend possible. The timeframe varies with every dog and situation, so no worries if you have a more crazy schedule. Once he has been practicing his new skills for about a month, he comes home to be with you, full-time, until he is about 6 months old, and ready for adult dog training. I am available for any issues that arise and help you through, at every step.

Your puppy stays with me during the week to learn:

Crate Training

Being crate trained is an invaluable skill. This assists in potty training, your dog does not want to potty where her sleeps, so using this tool to help develop bladder and bowel control is a must. Crates Save LIVES!!! Leaving your dog loose in your home for an extended period allows him to learn innumerable nuisance behaviors that can be deadly for him! Destruction from boredom is the most common form of injury we see in the vet clinic. Whether from eating things he shouldn't, knocking heavy objects over onto himself, patterning inappropriate bathroom habits, problem greeting behaviors, or developing separation anxiety-related behaviors, crate training is the way to help your puppy learn the best ways to interact in his environment.

Socialization

Your puppy can come to me as early as 8 weeks, to start learning how cool the world around him can be. Unfortunately, the critical socialization periods and strategies for socializing puppies are grossly misunderstood. I have the education and real-world knowledge to provide your puppy with valuable and functional experiences, in order to MAKE your best friend into the most well rounded and stable adult possible! We only get a few weeks for this process, before the window closes around 14 weeks. He needs to see as many scary situations as possible, and learn how to react positively to them, so that he can be a confident adult.

Obedience Training

From moment one, your pup experiences obedience training as a fun game, that will last his whole life! He is learning the things that will be proofed as he gets closer to 6 months old. As a baby, he isn't ready for the responsibility of performing the behaviors, but he will be learning the muscle memory required for smooth performances in the future. The most common complaint I hear is that dogs know the behaviors, they just wont perform when the need arises. My training allows for proofing of all behaviors when your best friend is ready for the responsibility.

I do the hard work for you!!!

This program includes EVERYTHING you will ever need to have the very best friend possible! It is all-inclusive, we work through puppyhood together, and then I finish his training at 6 months. After training am available for anything you could ever need. The behaviors taught and the exposure gained are guaranteed to manage any problem behavior, FOREVER! Any time you need help, I am here! Call or TEXT today!
